TBWA/Chiat/Day's 27,000 square foot, multi-story office is located in San Francisco’s Embarcadero district. Guiding design concepts were to create an entry that engages visitors and staff, expanding the vertical connection between floors while infusing the building with natural light.

Inspired by the history of the site as a city port, curved forms, reminiscent of ship hulls create a counterpoint to the existing volume of the warehouse. Floor planes were cut to create double height volumes within which meeting spaces are suspended. The maritime concept is further explored through materials including sea grass mats, cork, Douglas fir planking and steel cable railing.
