IDENTITY
By definition, commercial buildings thrive in the public realm, yet their real strength comes from an innately personal approach to design. Every site, every budget, and, most importantly, every client is unique. In order to create buildings that express an individual identity, we try to understand our clients, what they believe in, and how they work.

CONCEPT
We believe that every good design begins with a strong concept. As part of concept development, we explore three main areas of inquiry. First, we consider how our clients view themselves in relation to the world around them. We investigate their realm of expertise and work to understand the image they hope to portray. Second, we examine the physical and functional requirements of the space. Finally, we study our clients’ social interactions.

PRIORITIES
Because architecture is a collaborative discipline, we empathize with our commercial clients on multiple levels. We understand the need to preserve financial resources while still standing out from the crowd. We understand the value of space that is both particular and flexible. We also understand the importance of space that facilitates a careful balance between creativity and order.

PROJECTS
For our commercial work, we have received awards for the James Perse Malibu store, the San Francisco office of TBWA/Chiat/Day, and the Chan Luu store. Other commercial clients include Costume National, SONY, Maxfield, and Vince.
