The landscape renovation for the Rolston Residence, a single family home designed by Richard Neutra in 1961, continues the lines of the house into the landscape.
In the front garden, white, plaster walls separate the garden and street. Inside, the entry sequence progresses through arbor/gate, rectangle of Korean grass, succulent garden, and sculpture terrace. The contrasting plant colors and textures create interest and visual depth. In the rear garden, the existing pool, specimen cacti and succulents form the skeleton for the modern landscape design. Layers of plant textures and colors frame the view of the city beyond.
