Santos Plaza includes 37 apartment units, a community room, computer lab and case management offices. The project houses previously homeless adults with mental illness. Intent for the design was to provide a comfortable, safe environment for residents.

Involving the rehabilitation of an existing three-story masonry building, the structure was reconfigured to facilitate peer interaction, as well as provide private spaces for residents. The new landscaped courtyard coupled with the reconfiguration of the interior spaces creates a strong connection between the indoors and outdoors. Critical elements of light, air and vegetation flow throughout the layout of the building.
