Located in Venice, California, the Stone Residence was designed for a family that spends considerable time outdoors. Landscaped yard space along the western edge of the property is divided into thirds by the living room and outdoor dining patio. The primary volume of the 3,700-square foot home stands opposite, with floor-to-ceiling glazing blurring the distinction between indoors and outdoors.

Sliding glass doors open the living room to the yard and the pool. The second-story master bedroom extends over an outdoor dining patio, which lies adjacent to the back yard, a space specifically conceived as a children’s play area. The bedroom also overlooks the Mediterranean plantings on the green roof of the living room.
