Designed by architect Richard Neutra in 1958, the Lew House is located on a steep hillside in the Santa Monica Mountains. The one bedroom residence was originally designed to maximize the level ground available on the hillside lot, plus maintain uninterrupted visual connection between spaces.
Unconstrained by requirements for historical accuracy, some interior spaces were reconfigured, including replacing the old painted kitchen cabinetry with stained birch cabinetry, and removing a closet in the former master bedroom. In place of original carpeting, dark hardwood floors complement the neutral interior color palette and woodwork.
