On the 162-acre Eisele Vineyard Estate, just east of Calistoga in Napa Valley, we added office space on the ground floor of a two-story 1860s barn-turned-office. By enclosing the barn’s spacious alcove rather than constructing a new addition, we maintained the building’s modest footprint. The wood siding on the enclosure was sourced from an on-site agricultural building and treated to match the existing redwood siding. Every detail, from a new eight-pane window to the architectural hardware, was meticulously matched to maintain the integrity and aesthetic of the iconic barn.
