Hammer K.A.M.P.

In May 2011, Marmol Radziner was one of 19 artists invited to participate in the UCLA Hammer Museum’s Kids’ Art Museum Project, an event imagined by artists for kids.  Marmol Radziner created a system of blocks and connectors and encouraged kids and their parents to “Think Inside the Blocks,” resulting in a massive, collaborative sculpture.  The sculpture grew, fell, and morphed over the course of the day on a custom-made 18-foot walnut table.  The table’s slots provided a foundation for the kids to build with thousands of blocks, all produced by the Marmol Radziner wood shop in Vernon, CA.

After the event, the table was adapted for installation in the lobby of the Hammer Museum, where the public is now welcome to play with the blocks.
