We made sure that materials and detailing from the original structure transitioned seamlessly to the addition. To preserve the low-slung roofline, the two-story addition cuts into the hillside. Partially underground, the gym extends the main home into the new office. To minimize the visual impact of the structural upgrades, we added steel beams clad in wood to match Cliff May’s original design.
